NAIROBI, Kenya (HOL) — Kenyan police are investigating the death of a Somali woman whose body was found Monday morning at a guest house in Nairobi’s South B neighbourhood.
The victim was identified as 35-year-old Farhiyo Ahmed. According to a police report filed at Mariguini Police Station, she checked into the Fuata Nyayo guest house late Sunday night, August 31, with a man identified as Chelsea Mwangi, also known by the alias Mcheche, according to a police report filed at Mariguini Police Station. The guest house owner, Joyce Wangari, told officers that Mwangi paid 400 Kenyan shillings for the room.
On Monday morning, a caretaker noticed the door to the room was partly open and alerted management. When she entered, she found Ahmed lying on the bed with blood coming from her mouth and nose. Police later said the body also bore visible injuries to the back of her head.
Officers from the South B police station, detectives from the Makadara Directorate of Criminal Investigations, and the Scenes of Crime unit processed the scene and documented evidence. The body was taken to the Nairobi Funeral Home, formerly known as City Mortuary, for preservation pending a postmortem examination.
Authorities have launched a manhunt for Mwangi, who reportedly fled the scene and is considered the prime suspect. Police said investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding Ahmed’s death.
