Galkacyo (HOL) — Clan militia forces killed Dr. Omar Abdi
Dahir, a young doctor working in Galkayo, in a revenge attack on Tuesday night,
marking the second doctor to be slain in clan-related violence in the town.
Witnesses said the doctor was caught in a clash between
rival militias in the Horumar neighborhood. The fighting stemmed from an
earlier confrontation in the Towfiiq area of Mudug region.
At least two other people were killed and several others
wounded in the incident. Puntland and Galmudug security forces were deployed to
separate the warring sides, though tensions remain high.
The killing recalls a similar tragedy two years ago, when
Dr. Sakariye Abdi Jama was gunned down in Galkayo after his medical center was
attacked.
