Mogadishu (HOL) — The Governor of Banadir Region and Mayor
of Mogadishu, Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungaab, met Thursday with the Chairman
of the Independent National Electoral and Boundaries Commission, Abdikarim
Ahmed Hassan, to strengthen collaboration on the ongoing voter registration
campaign in the capital.

The meeting, held at the Hamar Municipal Government
headquarters, focused on accelerating preparations for the highly anticipated One-Person,
One-Vote election — a milestone Somalis have awaited for years.

“The Banadir Regional Administration is fully committed to
supporting all the efforts of the Electoral Commission. We are ready to
facilitate registration, public awareness, and preparation of polling
stations,” Governor Muungaab said during the meeting.

Electoral Commission Chairman Abdikarim Ahmed Hassan
commended Muungaab for his leadership and political will.

“It is encouraging that the Governor of the capital is
clearly supporting the electoral process. This shows political maturity and
reflects the public interest of Mogadishu residents,” Abdikarim said.

Since Muungaab took office, voter registration efforts in
Mogadishu have gained momentum. The commission anticipates that millions of
residents will register and head to polling stations in the coming days,
marking a major step forward in Somalia’s electoral roadmap.
