Mogadishu (HOL) – Six al-Shabaab militants, including key leaders, were wounded in a military operation carried out by the Somali National Army (SNA), supported by local forces, in central Somalia on Wednesday night.

The operation occurred in the El-Garas village, located in the Galgadud region.

Among the wounded leaders were Abu Salman, the leader of the El-Garas area, and Jabriil, the group’s Finance Director in the region.

Mohamed Farah Geddi, who led the operation, told the media that the wounded militants fled toward the town of Galhareeri in the Galgadud region.

The operation comes as the federal government prepares to resume its long-delayed military operations against al-Shabaab, which had been on hold for several months.
