Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met
Thursday with Djibouti’s Foreign Minister Abdiqadir Hussein Omar in Mogadishu,
marking the minister’s first official visit to Somalia.
Omar delivered greetings and a message from Djiboutian
President Ismail Omar Guelleh, according to officials. President Mohamud
briefed the minister on Somalia’s security and development priorities,
including ongoing military operations against Al-Shabaab and ISIS-linked
fighters.
Mohamud expressed gratitude for Djibouti’s long-standing
support and pledged to deepen bilateral ties. Both sides agreed to strengthen
security cooperation and regional partnerships, highlighting their “deep-rooted
and strategic” relationship.
Djibouti is a key troop contributor to the African Union
mission in Somalia, and the two nations maintain close security and political
coordination.
