Baidoa (HOL) – Somali Speaker of the House of the People of
the Federal Parliament, Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), arrived on Saturday
in Baidoa, the interim capital of South West State, to meet with local elders
and community leaders regarding upcoming elections.
The delegation received a warm welcome at Shaati Gaduud
Airport by the acting President and Speaker of the South West State Assembly,
along with regional ministers, lawmakers, traditional elders, and
representatives from various sectors of society.
During a joint press conference held at the Presidential
Palace in Baidoa, Dr. Ali Said Fiqi, Speaker of the South West State Assembly,
stated that Speaker Madobe and his delegation would hold separate meetings with
regional leaders and community members.
Speaker Sheikh Adan Madobe expressed his gratitude to the
leadership of South West State and the people of Baidoa for the warm reception
and hospitality extended to him and his team.
Earlier on Wednesday, the Speaker visited Hudur, the capital
of the Bakool region, where he discussed accelerating federal efforts in the
ongoing campaign against al-Shabaab and strengthening ties with local
authorities and community leaders.
