Mogadishu (HOL) – The federal government’s intelligence
chief for the Gedo region, Abdirashid Janan, has accused Jubbaland President
Ahmed Madobe of hindering the state’s development and vowed that the Somali
government is determined to “liberate Jubbaland from his hands.”

Janan, who previously served as Jubbaland’s security
minister, alleged that Madobe has turned Jubbaland into a one-man
administration, silencing and pressuring anyone with opposing views.

He claimed that Madobe frequently uses clan identity as a
tool when facing opposition, describing it as a strategy to divide and alienate
communities.

“We know that Ahmed Madobe told officers from Gedo to
go there and burn down their houses, promising them ranks and wealth,”
Janan said. He added that some of these officers have already joined the
federal government, while others may join the national army upon arriving in
the region.

Janan also accused Madobe of personally obstructing the
liberation of Bu’ale district, the capital of Jubbaland, claiming that Madobe
fears losing control of the administration if the district is freed.

The federal government recently deployed Janan and other
federal officials to Gedo, which subsequently led to clashes between federal
government troops and pro-Madobe forces. These confrontations resulted in
federal troops capturing the Beled Hawo district.
