Mogadishu (HOL) – The commander of the local militia forces in Qoryoley district, located in the Lower Shabelle region, survived an explosion at his army camp on Tuesday, during which five of his soldiers were killed.
The explosion has raised doubts among the local forces responsible for the security in the Qoryoley district. Reports suggest that the forces have split into two factions along tribal lines.
Tensions escalated further after one army soldier fatally shot another soldier amid suspicions between them in the Qoryoley district earlier in the day.
As a result, both factions of the army have fortified their positions in the district, leading to widespread fear among the local population.
