Three siblings killed in landmine explosion in Galgaduud region

Mogadishu (HOL) — Three siblings were killed when a landmine exploded near the town of Herale in Somalia’s Galgaduud region. The explosion, which occurred while the children were playing, claimed the lives of two boys and a girl. The eldest was six years old.

Two of the children died instantly at the scene. The third, who sustained critical injuries, was rushed to Herale hospital but died hours later.

Landmine explosions have been a recurring issue in various parts of Somalia, leading to numerous casualties, predominantly among children. These incidents have also resulted in many individuals suffering permanent disabilities.
