Mogadishu (HOL) — General Dayah Abdi Abdulle, commander of the Somali National Army’s ground forces, inspected areas in the Galgaduud region recently liberated from the Al-Shabaab group on Wednesday.
His visit came as operations against Al-Shabaab by the Somali National Army and local forces have significantly intensified in recent weeks, primarily in Jubbaland, South West, Hirshabelle, and Galmudug states.
A day before the general’s visit, 50 Al-Shabaab members were killed in an operation in the Dhabaqle area, located between the towns of Masagaway and Awsweyne in Galgaduud.
General Abdulle visited Waniile and Dhagahyaale, which are under the jurisdiction of Eldheer district in Galgaduud. These locations were the site of fierce battles between government forces and Al-Shabaab militants a few weeks ago.
