In the statement, the two sides assessed achievements of mutual visits by the two countries’ high-ranking officials as positive and reiterated the need for the implementation of the contents of the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed by the two presidents. Guelleh and Ahmadinejad also underlined the necessity for the deepening and development of cooperation, considering the two countries’ potentials. Elsewhere, the two sides have attached significance to their mutual trade relations, stressing that trade ties play a crucial role in expanding bilateral ties. They also called for the increasing development of economic cooperation between the two countries’ governmental and private sectors. The Iranian and Djiboutian Presidents also underscored that showing respect for the different cultures of the world is of grave importance and urged some world powers to give up the efforts they make for imposing a cultural hegemony on the world in a bid to help to the establishment of stability and calm and prevent clash of civilizations. Also in the statement, the two sides have strongly condemned Zionist regime’s recent crimes in Lebanon, including the mass killing of the innocent civilians, destruction of civil and residential facilities and particularly the massacre of the people in Qana. They also criticized some world countries and bodies for the unilateral supports they have extended to the Zionists’ measures, and stressed the legitimacy of the Lebanese Islamic Resistance in standing up to the invasions of the Israeli regime. The two Presidents also called on the international circles to intervene in the situation and put an end to the continued violation of the national sovereignty and territorial integrity of Lebanon through the air and sea siege the Zionists have laid to Lebanon. They also underlined the need for the liberation of all the Arab lands from Israeli occupation, the Palestinians’ guaranteed basic rights, including the right to determine their own fate, return of all refugees to their homelands, and foundation of an independent Palestinian government with the Holy Qods as its capital. Guelleh and Ahmadinejad also voiced their strong and all-out support for the struggles of the Palestinian nation aimed at ending occupation, and called for a clear differentiation between the notion of terrorism and the legitimate resistance of nations against occupation. The two sides also condemned Israelis’ recent measures and aggressions against the Palestinians and called for the intervention of the international bodies to put an end to the inhuman measures of the Zionist regime, extension of support to the innocent Palestinian people, release of Palestinian prisoners, specially Palestinian officials, ministers, MPs and Parliament Speaker. The statement also stressed the need for further activities by regional formations and organizations, such as the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), the African Union (AU), and the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) in the face of international issues and developments and reiterated the need for enhanced coordination and harmony among the said bodies and organizations. The two countries also underlined the inalienable right of all countries, including the Islamic Republic of Iran, to gain access to peaceful nuclear energy and rejected decisions and efforts for pressurizing the world countries to give up this right or use it in a restricted form. The two sides also voiced support for the peaceful settlement of Iran’s nuclear issue through unconditional negotiations and talks within the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
