TULSA, Okla. A Somalian man granted asylum in the United States nine years ago is jailed after being found guilty of committing perjury while testifying before a federal grand jury.

Twenty-six-year-old Hasan Ali Hasan also faces prison time and future deportation after being convicted of three felony counts.

Prosecutors say Hasan lied last year during his grand jury testimony concerning what happened to him and his family in Somalia.

Grand jurors were investigating whether Hasan had broken the law in October 2004 by giving false answers to F-B-I and immigration officials.

The agents were investigating answers he had given in 1997 to federal immigration agents as part of his successful effort to gain asylum in the United States.
