135 Associations were present with delegates and 22 proxies for a total number of 157 votes when the ITTF Annual General Meeting was organized with a number of important items on the agenda in picturesque settings in the Maritim Hotel next to the AWD Dome in Bremen.
Following the ruling of CAS in respect to the appeal made by the Brazilian TTA concerning irregular procedures at the Shanghai AGM, the elections for Deputy President and Executive Vice-President were repeated with the following results. Khalil Al-Mohannadi (QAT) withdrew his candidature which meant that George Segun (NGR) was elected new Deputy President. In addition, Hungary’s Judit Farago was returned to office as an Executive Vice President and replaced Ivo-Goran Munivrana, who withdrew his candidature prior to the election.
Busy Agenda
Various committees were invited to report on the issues that are currently under development within their specific areas while Yokohama (JPN) and Linz (AUT) made their respective presentations in relations to their bids of hosting the 2009 World Championships. Updates were given on the upcoming 2007 and 2008 World Championships by the Zagreb and the Guangzhou organizing committees respectively. Finally Melecio Rivera (ESA) was elected new Continental Vice President for Latin America after Miguel Delgado had chosen to resign from the position after 13 years in charge of the prestigious position.
Sharara handed gift
Following the AGM at the Maritim Hotel in Bremen, ITTF President Adham Sharara was presented with a gift from Somalian delegate Abdulkadir Abdulle for the help received in the wake of the Tsunami disaster. In response to the tragedy, the ITTF in co-operation with African TTF provided assistance, courses and donated equipment to Tsunami Affected areas.
