Community and Web Announcement

The National Film Board of Canada and Instinct Films of Montreal is working with the Somali community of Ottawa on an exciting new project.  It’s a dramatic film which explores how newcomer families have used their strength and ingenuity to overcome difficult barriers, such as poverty, discrimination, and housing insecurity.    By showing the story of one Somali family in their struggle for stability and respect, the film will honour the sacrifices so many Somali families have made to create new lives in North America.

We are looking for people in the community to work as non professional actors this summer.   There are a number of roles we are looking to fill. The principal role represents a woman aged 30 to 40 years of age. There are other roles for children and teens between the ages of 8-15. A couple of small adult male roles are needed too.  Some parts involve several weeks of work, while others only a few days.  All participants will be paid.
Previous acting experience is NOT required.

Besides the opportunity to get involved in a dynamic team effort, the film is aimed at bringing awareness to the wider public about the refugee and immigrant experience in Canada.

For more details about the film, roles and salary, leave a message or write:
