December Shooting Angered Somali Community

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Extra security was called into the Franklin County Courthouse Friday morning in anticipation of a court decision expected later in the day.
Sources tell NBC 4 that security was called because of the decision surrounding whether a Franklin County sheriff’s deputy should be criminally charged with shooting and killing a Somali man in December 2005.

Police said Nasi Abdi lunged at deputies with a knife when they served a court order to take him to Netcare.
A Franklin County grand jury is expected to hear the case on Friday afternoon and decide whether any criminal charges should be filed.
Sources told NBC 4 that the security steps were taken in case there is an impromptu rally like the one that occurred at City Hall following the shooting.
