
A soccer team made up of city Somalis and members of Leicestershire Black Police Association lost 5-3 to a team of Derbyshire Black Police Association and members of the Palestinian, Kurdish and South East Asian communities.
The game started on time 1:00pm. Leicestershire team was made by 8 Somali players and 6 members of Leicestershire Black Police Association.
The Derbyshire team was made of 4 Derbyshire PBA and 7 community members {Palestine, Kurdish and South East Asians}. The Derbyshire team won 5:3. The game was very tough and both team put their best players on the pitch.
End of the game over delicious Somali meal, Insp. Nick Glynn, chair of Leicestershire BPA, congratulated the winners. Theresa Peltier, Chair of Derbyshire BPA thanked Leicestershire team for the hospitality and offered rematch in Derby.
Mr. Hashim Duale, community development officer, received from the Leicestershire BPA football tools and he thanked for the donation. When asked Mr. Duale about the game he replied “We achieved our set target of the day.
For instance this event helped integration of the community in the city. We also introduced the Somali food in the police force and hopefully our restaurants will benefit in the near future.
Also St Mathews Highfields Community Point will use the donated {football kid} today for the benefit of the community.
