Somali President meets Sudan Intelligence Chief to boost security cooperation

Mogadishu (HOL) — Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met
Wednesday with Sudan’s intelligence chief to discuss strengthening security
cooperation between the two nations, officials said.

Maj. Gen. Ahmed Ibrahim Ali Mufadal, Director General of
Sudan’s National Intelligence Service, delivered a message from Gen. Abdel
Fattah al-Burhan, head of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, reaffirming
Khartoum’s commitment to deepening bilateral ties.

Talks at the Presidential Palace in Mogadishu focused on
enhancing collaboration between the intelligence agencies of both countries to
tackle shared regional security challenges, according to Somali officials.

The meeting was also attended by Somalia’s intelligence
chief, Mahad Mohamed Salad, underscoring the strategic nature of the
discussions.

Maj. Gen. Mufadal is in Mogadishu on an official visit, part
of a broader effort to strengthen cooperation amid rising insecurity across the
Horn of Africa.
