Garbaharey (HOL) – The 10th Brigade Command of the Somali
National Army (SNA) in Gedo has barred soldiers from entering Garbaharey town
with weapons during holidays or for personal reasons.

The directive also prohibits troops from discharging their
firearms without authorization. Any soldier found violating the order will be
brought before the Armed Forces Court, according to the brigade command.

Major General Osman Sheikh Abdi Qorax, commander of the 10th
Brigade, issued the order to newly trained soldiers, including those who
previously served in Garbaharey.

“It is prohibited to fire without permission, as it can
cause chaos and harm the public, including injuries and deaths. A woman
recently died due to the sound of gunfire,” Gen. Qorax said.

He further noted that the government invests significant
resources in weapons and ammunition, making it unacceptable for soldiers to
misuse or waste them.

The directive comes as government forces remain heavily
engaged in security operations across Gedo, where tensions persist between
federal troops and forces loyal to the Jubbaland administration.
