Somali police officers appear with a woman arrested in connection with the poisoning of her ex-husband in Kismayo.

Kismayo (HOL) —  A Kismayo woman was arrested by police for allegedly poisoning her ex-husband, Abdullahi Abdirahman Abukar, with a toxic substance. The murder occurred in the Farjano neighbourhood of Kismayo, where Abdullahi died after consuming a drink laced with poison.

Sahra Hussein Mohamed, the mother of six children from her marriage to Abdullahi, was arrested soon after the poisoning. While social media rumours suggested that the couple had reconciled and were still married, police clarified that the pair had been separated, though they were discussing getting back together.

The substance used in the crime is believed to be carbofuran, a pesticide commonly known by its trade name, Furadan. Livestock owners widely use the substance to kill predators, and even a small amount can be fatal. Authorities suspect that it was the same substance used in this incident, though investigations are ongoing.

The case has sparked public attention, both within Kismayo and across social media platforms, where discussions continue to unfold.
