Hargeisa (HOL) — Somaliland reported today that its population now stands at 6.2 million, according to a statement released during a Cabinet meeting at the presidential office. This marks an increase from a 2021 report that counted the population at 5.7 million.
“The Republic of Somaliland, with a current population of 6.2 million, continues to receive comprehensive services from the government,” the statement from the presidential office noted.
The self-declared independent region in Somalia did not disclose the methodology used to derive these population figures, and noted that no official census has been conducted.
