Somali Foreign Minister meets UN and China diplomats in Mogadishu

Mogadishu (HOL) – Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ambassador Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, met with the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General (SRSG) for Somalia and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM), Ms. Catriona Laing, at the Ministry in Mogadishu on Wednesday.

They discussed political and security matters and potential collaborations to address Somalia’s challenges and emphasized the necessity of ongoing cooperation between the Federal Government of Somalia and the United Nations.

Minister Fiqi also met with the Chargé d’Affairs of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China to the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Chen Wendi, during a courtesy visit. The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and expanding areas of cooperation and joint coordination for mutual benefit.

The discussion highlighted the long-term relationship between Somalia and China. Both sides also expressed their commitment to nurturing and advancing their partnership to address regional and international challenges together.
