Jowhar (HOL) – Gunmen shot dead a prominent traditional elder identified as Hassan Ali Muude on the outskirts of Jowhar town, the administrative capital of Hirshabelle State, on Tuesday night.
The killing of the elder occurred in the village of Asirmal, one of the villages near Jowhar town, and the culprits fled the scene, according to eyewitness reports.
Reports suggest that the killing of the elder may be linked to tribal revenge, as no group has claimed responsibility yet.
Neither the regional state authorities nor the federal government have commented on the incident.
The victim was one of the prominent traditional elders in Jowhar city and its surrounding areas.
