Mogadishu (HOL) – The Turkish Embassy in Somalia has donated $50,000 to the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) to assist victims of the devastating floods caused by El Niño rains. The floods have led to the displacement of over 600,000 individuals and affected more than two million people across Somalia, creating an urgent need for international assistance.

During a ceremony held in Mogadishu on Wednesday, Mr. ArmaÄŸan ArdoÄŸa, the Deputy Ambassador of Turkey, handed the contribution to Mr. Mahamuud Moallim Abdulle, the Chairman of the SoDMA. The donation aims to provide critical resources such as food, water, shelter, and medical aid to the affected communities.

Expressing his appreciation, Mr. Moallim thanked the Turkish government and its people for their steadfast and generous support, which has been a constant since 2011.

Mr. ArdoÄŸa reaffirmed Turkey’s dedication to standing alongside Somalia, emphasizing the continuation of Turkey’s humanitarian and development aid well into the future.

SoDMA has issued an appeal for more support from the global community to address the flood victims’ pressing needs.
