Mogadishu (HOL) – Mousa Harun Adan, a well-known traditional elder known as Mousa Maquni, was assassinated by unidentified gunmen in Mogadishu’s Deyniile district on Monday. The murder has sparked outrage and deepened concerns over the safety of public figures.
Authorities report that the assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack, with police and security forces rapidly deploying to the area in response.
Mousa Maquni previously survived an attempt on his life.
The killing coincides with public demonstrations against the ongoing violence towards Somali intellectuals.
